Hello.👋 I’m Eva (short for Evgenia). I am originally from Greece but have been living in Scotland for a very long time! I started my handmade business in 2017 when I created my first Bridal Pin for a friend’s bridal shower. I wanted to give her a gift of a pin with natural freshwater pearls but I couldn’t find one anywhere so I decided to make it myself. Then a friend asked me to make another one and before I knew it my hobby had become my job.
In 2019, I designed Anixi’s signature safety pin, The Eternity Pin™️, which is manufactured using the highest quality stainless steel. Its design is based on the Greek ‘Meandros’ (meander), a decorative element common in Ancient Greek and Roman art. All Bridal Pins and Brooches are handcrafted using our Eternity Safety Pin, making unique pieces that cannot be found on the high street.
All my designs are inspired by my life and experiences in Greece, using colours and materials that aim to bring a bit of Sunshine, Happiness and Holiday vibes to our day. The colour BLUE features in many of pieces and there’s a reason for this…
Growing up in Greece, I was raised with the ancient belief of the ‘evil eye’, or the ‘mati’, as it is called in Greek.🧿 Many cultures believe that receiving the evil eye, usually by a person who is envious of you, will cause misfortune or injury often manifesting as a headache or unexplained illness. In order to prevent this from happening a blue eye or blue bead is worn to reflect the evil away and protect the wearer.
My aim is to give a more modern and minimal take on this traditional custom and to make pieces that can be given as gifts to anyone. The main focus of my designs is not the blue bead but charms for a special occasion, such as a bridal shower, a new baby, a christening or a new home.
Having studied architecture I am a firm believer in the idea that less is more – and all my products are based on simplicity. I believe that a minimal approach offers an elegant result.
